  • Healing, Hoping, and Fighting the Black Dog – Day five

Healing continues physically, but today the black dog showed up. Progress is clear, yet the mind pushes back. Sitting with it, pushing through, and trusting it will pass.

  • Healing, Hoping, and Letting It Settle – Day Four

Healing is progressing well — bruising is fading and shape is starting to come through. Staying consistent with aftercare, while navigating a low mood. Hoping things lift soon as recovery continues.

  • A Bit Bruised, A Bit Bold – Day Two

Day two brings a clearer sense of change — no longer a grower, with a constant new presence that’s hard to ignore. Progress is on track, no pain, and the mental snapshot is taken. The shift already feels real.

  • There’s a Stranger in My Pants, I Think I Like It – Day One

Day one brings dramatic bruising but surprisingly no pain. Each trip to the bathroom introduces a pleasantly unfamiliar “stranger.” Tomorrow’s swelling peak will give a preview of the settled result — and so far, everything feels reassuringly on track.

  • No Longer a Grower, Only Ever a Shower, Go Big or Go Home

Treatment done, and I’m already feeling confident. The procedure was painless, the doctor reassuring, and aftercare straightforward. Swelling will settle in days, revealing the real result. This feels like a meaningful step in taking control of my body and confidence.

  • Nerves, Certainty, and Taking Control

I’m feeling some nerves as the enhancement approaches, but I’m certain it’s the right choice. I’ve researched it thoroughly, trust the surgeon, and see this as taking control of my body. I’ll share what really happens — before and after.

  • Turning 50, Changing Shape, and Listening to My Dreams

Turning 50 has pushed me into a more honest place. After significant weight loss, I’m facing a body that feels healthier but harder to accept, while my dream journal continues to reflect themes of control, invasion, and reclaiming space shaped by my past experiences of grooming and rape. I’m also…

  • Wisdom, Teeth & Repeat

I have been interviewing for a new job for the last few weeks. It’s one that I know I can do and one with a prestigious company. It is taking its toll on me; five interviews is a bit much for anyone, and each time I’ve interviewed, I’ve been led…

Hi I’m ᗷIOᑎIᑕᗷEᗩᖇᑌK, a fifty-year-old gay man, product manager, technology enthusiast, science fiction fan, and proud leather bear. After losing my partner, living through significant trauma, and facing depression, anxiety, and hidden disability, I’ve found myself on a journey of healing and rediscovery. The “ᗷIOᑎIᑕ” comes from my two artificial hips, but it’s also become a reminder that we’re all capable of rebuilding.

This blog is my safe space.

Much of what I write is deeply personal and reflects how I experienced a moment, not an attempt to define someone else’s intentions or tell the whole story. If my experiences help someone else feel a little less alone—or simply encourage a moment of reflection—then sharing them has been worthwhile.

Sometimes people may recognise themselves, or believe a post is about them. If you do, I simply ask that you read it with kindness and keep it to yourself. These posts are not written to blame, shame or hurt anyone. They are part of my own healing, helping me understand my thoughts and feelings in a way that words spoken aloud often cannot.

Thank you for giving me the space to do that.
